The Louny cinema once again confirms its position as a technology leader: it has become the first cinema in Central and Eastern Europe to put the latest AUROMAX 3D sound system from BARCO into operation. It is fully compatible with the IAB (Immersive Audio Bitstream) standard, the official specification for immersive sound in DCP, also known as SMPTE ST 2098-2.
IAB is today the only open, certified format for new Hollywood films, and it effectively unifies what were originally competing 3D sound formats. AUROMAX builds fully on it, so the Louny cinema is ready to play every modern film title with immersive sound support.
The modernization included:
- SMPTE 2098-2 / IAB
- AURO 11.1, AURO 13.1
- Dolby Digital 7.1 / 5.1
- and other legacy formats
- adding new loudspeakers to the auditorium for a full 26.1.2 configuration
- a complete rewiring of the sound system
In total, 28 audio channels and nearly 40,000 W of power were used, turning the auditorium into a top-tier film listening space.
The Louny cinema thus once again confirms its pioneering spirit. Back in 2009 it was the first active 3D cinema in the Czech Republic, in 2013 the first with Auro 11.1, and today it is once again leading the way thanks to AUROMAX with IAB support.
