Datasat independently developed the AP20 processor for DCI markets. With its modular approach, it has been a great success and is very popular in every cinema we have installed it in. Beyond all the functions for 2D sound in every available data format, it also works very well as a video switch, which is especially appealing for single-screen cinema operators, as it removes the need to handle video switching separately for projection from satellite, computer, DVD player, multimedia centers, and so on. The AP20 switches picture and sound at the same time, which greatly simplifies operation in the booth.

This base model also gave rise to a variant developed in cooperation with Galaxy Studios and Barco: the first 3D audio processor, designated the AP24. This model was then supplied for installations of the Auro 11.1 and Auro 13.1 3D sound formats. With the arrival of the standardized SMPTE 2098-2 format for all 3D sound films, the popular AP24 was replaced by the BARCO AuroMax APX processor, which fully replaces the functionality of its predecessors in every respect, especially when it comes to sound handling.
