Frequently asked questions about KDM keys
Where do I get a KDM key for a film?
A KDM (Key Delivery Message) is always issued by the distributor of the title, or their technical partner. The key is bound to the specific certificate of your cinema server and to the agreed playback window - so request the KDM from the distributor you booked the title with, stating the server (media block) you will screen on.
The KDM does not work and the screening is coming up. What now?
First check the key validity (the playback window starts and ends to the minute), the server system time, and whether the KDM matches your server certificate. If none of that helps, contact the distributor of the title - and if you are unsure about the technical side, our 24/7 service will help with the diagnostics.
We replaced our cinema server. Will the old KDMs still work?
No. A KDM is bound to the certificate of a specific server - after a replacement (including a service media block swap) you need to ask distributors for new keys for the new certificate. When replacing equipment with us, you receive the new certificate and a checklist of steps to arrange with distributors.
