Blocked seats must stay symmetric about the light-cone axis - equal on both sides of the centre. If the projector position cannot be adjusted, an amber seat is added so the zone stays symmetric.

The interactive 3D auditorium model combines the results of the sightline curve and laser hazard distance into a single visual scene. Seats are coloured by sightline quality and the laser hazard zone is marked directly in the model, so you see the full design context in one view.
The model is generated in the browser from the auditorium parameters entered into the calculator. You can walk through the auditorium seat by seat and see the exact view each seat has of the screen. Technicians and designers can quickly communicate the visual intent without specialist CAD software.
The tool is suitable for pre-design presentations, rapid design iterations and education. It does not replace a certified project or professional measurement, but significantly shortens the path from initial numbers to a spatial understanding of the design.
How it works
Set the auditorium parameters
Enter the screen dimensions, number of rows, row pitch and booth geometry. The parameters are shared with the sightline and hazard distance calculators so the model reflects your actual values.
Launch the 3D tour
Click the '3D tour' button. The model is rendered in the browser using WebGL. On mobile devices the launch requires confirmation due to performance considerations.
Explore the auditorium
Rotate the model with the mouse or touch. Click a seat to display the sightline detail for that row and the viewing angles. Seat colour corresponds to the sightline quality.
Verify the safety zones
The laser hazard zone (RG3) is marked in red in front of the projector lens. Verify that walkways or technician work areas are outside this zone.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does the 3D view not load automatically on mobile?
- 3D rendering via WebGL puts load on the processor and battery of mobile devices. The model therefore does not start automatically and requires explicit confirmation to avoid unnecessary device heating while browsing the page.
- Which browser do I need?
- Any modern browser with WebGL 2.0 support: Chrome 80+, Firefox 80+, Edge 80+, Safari 15+. Older browsers and some corporate VPN proxies may block WebGL.
- How are the seats coloured?
- Green seats have a good view of the full screen with the set C-value clearance. Orange seats are marginal. Red seats do not meet the minimum visibility requirement for the bottom edge of the image. The colour matches the assessment in the sightline table.
- Can the model be exported or shared?
- Export to CAD or PDF is not available in the current version. The page URL can be shared; it includes the default parameters. For client presentations we recommend sharing screenshots or a screen recording.
- Does the 3D model replace a professional project?
- No. The 3D model is a visualisation for rapid communication and orientation in the design. The binding auditorium project must be prepared by a certified designer and include acoustics, electrical systems, fire safety and compliance with applicable standards.
