Digitization of the Vimperk Cinema: From E-Cinema to D-Cinema with Barco Technology
At the end of 2023, we completed a full digitization of the Vimperk cinema, which moved from its original E-Cinema system to the full D-Cinema standard, that is, digital projection compliant with DCI norms. This step made it possible to screen films in the highest quality, intended for digital cinemas worldwide
Digitalization of the Vimperk cinema: from E-Cinema to D-Cinema with Barco technology
At the end of 2023, we carried out the complete digitalization of the Vimperk cinema, which thereby moved from its original so-called E-Cinema system to the full-fledged D-Cinema standard, that is, digital projection in line with DCI norms. This step made it possible to screen films in the highest quality, the kind intended for digital cinemas around the world.
The upgrade includes a refurbished Barco DP2K-12C digital projector, which delivers reliable performance and a quality image even for smaller cinema halls. The projector is complemented by a new Barco Alchemy ICMP-X cinema server, which combines playback, storage and projection control in a single device.
A new Dolby CP950 audio processor is installed in the projection booth, ensuring clean, precise sound. The whole cinema is also run by an automation system that controls the lighting, the curtains, the exhaust and the audio, making operation more efficient and reducing the load on the staff.
Thanks to this digitalization, the Vimperk cinema has joined the ranks of full-fledged digital cinemas, capable of screening both the latest films in DCP format and alternative content in professional quality.
Another step toward modernizing the Vimperk cinema
The digitalization of the Vimperk cinema involved not only replacing the technology but also making operation more efficient overall. Thanks to the move from E-Cinema to D-Cinema, both projection and sound quality improved significantly, which audiences are sure to appreciate. This change confirms that the digitalization of the Vimperk cinema was a step in the right direction.
