Kino Kacko Dobrany Gets a New DCI Laser Projector

Kino Káčko in Dobřany was the first digitized single-screen cinema in the Czech Republic, back in 2008. A Christie CP2000 projector and a Qube XP-D cinema server were installed then, and we were there. We have worked with the cinema without a break ever since: preventive maintenance, upgrades, lamp replacements and a full re-digitization in 2024. In 2024, we returned to this pioneering cinema to carry out another major step forward: an upgrade of the projection technology and the installation of a new generation of Barco technology.

Upgrade of the Kino Káčko cinema in Dobrany - new Barco SP2K-11S projector

After more than 15 years of operation, the original equipment was replaced by a 2K Barco SP2K-11S laser projector from the Barco SERIES 4 line, complemented by a powerful Barco Alchemy ICMP-X cinema server. The new combination delivers higher contrast, more accurate colors, quieter operation (just 50 dB(A)) and lower energy consumption.

New projection screen and 3D system

The upgrade also included a new projection screen and the installation of a polarization 3D system, which gives audiences a high-quality, stable three-dimensional image. Everything was carefully tuned so that the resulting image meets the highest digital cinema standards.

The cinema that was first - and still sets the direction

The upgrade of the Kino Káčko cinema in Dobrany is proof that even more than 15 years after its first digitalization, a cinema can once again be at the technological cutting edge. We are glad we could be there at the beginning and at the continuation of its journey.
