In the spring of 2020, the projection technology at the Svet cinema in Cheb was modernized. After more than ten years of service, the aging Barco DP-2000 projector with its Qube XP-D cinema server was replaced with the latest SERIES 4 RGB projector, the Barco SP4K-12, paired with an ICMP-X cinema server. The SERIES 4 projectors were unveiled by Barco / Cinionic in May 2019 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas; they are RGB projectors of "normal" size that are able to meet the requirements of almost any auditorium. The installed projector offers native 4K resolution, higher contrast, and enhanced uniformity, and it supports the Rec.2020 color space. Its very quiet operation (50 dB(A)) allows installation even outside the projection booth, for example in the auditorium itself. As a major bonus, the SERIES 4 family (SP4K) very cleverly manages its power draw to achieve a figure of just 9.5 lm/W. In eco mode, consumption is less than 3 watts. This opens up the very handy wake-on-LAN feature for scheduling screenings, maintenance, or ingest.
